1. Thung Khe Pass
Before get to Mai Chau, you will pass through Thung Khe Pass on the way. You can stop your care/bike here to admire the beautiful scenery of Mai Chau from a distance view. Mai Chau valley look like a picture with green field and white rock. Thung Khe Pass is beautiful in all four seasons. It is the place you should visit during your trip in Mai Chau.
2. Thung Nai Port
About 20km from Hoa Binh city center, Thung Nai is so-called "Ha Long on Black River". The beauty of Thung Nai is made from majestic mountains floated on Black River. Don’t miss a boat trip to see Black River, which all year deep in magical turquoise blue color.
3. Mai Chau flagpole
Passing through Thung Khe pass, don't rush to Mai Chau immediately, just stop at the Mai Chau Flagpole for a minute. From the Flagpole, you ca see the panoramic view of Mai Chau valley with white clouds hovering over the mountainside. This is a place you can take the excellent photos over Mai Chau valley.
4. Lac village
When going to Mai Chau, you can miss the Lac village, the most beautiful village in Mai Chau. In this village, you can discover the cultural identity of the white Thai people in Mai Chau. There are 5 Thai ethnic families living in Lac village are Ha, Lo, Vi, Mac, and Loc. The village has existed for 700 years so far. In Lac village you can admire natural beauty of rice fields, stilt house, hand made souvenir or brocade products.
5. Mu Waterfall
Mu Waterfall is located on the majestic Truong Son mountain range, at an altitude of more than 1000m. Mu Waterfall is quite far from Mai Chau (about 80km) but it’s the place that attract a lot of trekker who always crazy about wild life and authentic beauty.
6. Pom Coong village
Another beautiful place in Mai Chau is the Pom Coong village. Pom Coong village is located not very far from Lac village. In Thai language Pom means hill, Coong means drum, Pom Coong means village of hills lying on a big drum, implying field. Not very famous like Lac village, Pom Coong is still very peaceful and not crowded by tourist like the Lac.
7. Van village
Van village is quite famous with foreign tourist thanks to the homestay in traditional stilt house. Van village still contains beautiful rice field, water pond & chanel. Like Pom Coong, you can stay away from tourist flow in this peaceful village. Homestay Mr Cuong is a recommended place where you can enjoy an authentic experience in Thai traditional house.
8. Nhot village
Like other villages in Mai Chau, the people of Nhot village often live with rivers and streams, building their houses against the mountains and hills, in front of the house is usually a vast field. Here you can wander around to explore more brocade shops and find yourself a favorite item or as a gift for friends and relatives. You will have the opportunity to try rice liquor and the other Thai dishes.
9. Chieu Cave
One of the beautiful place of Mai Chau that you must definitely come to explore Chieu Cave. From Mai Chau town you have to conquer 1200 stone steps to reach the cave. Located on the top of Pu Kha limestone mountain range, Chieu Cave is a cave formed from stalactites. The name Hang Chieu is given by the people, because when the afternoon comes, the sunlight shines directly into the cave, the rays make the splendor of stalactite block beautiful. Chieu Cave is quite wide, divided into two floors. The stalactites in the cave appear extremely vivid and shimmering with various shapes. The deeper you go, you will be really overwhelmed by the magnificent beauty of each stalactite block stalactite block.
10. Go Lao Waterfall
Go Lao waterfall, also known as Go Mu waterfall, is a beautiful waterfall located in Phuc San commune, Mai Chau. This place is about 15 km from Mai Chau town. On the way to Go Lao, you will definitely be attracted by the natural scenery such as small beautiful Muong houses, cat ear cliffs, majestic Ba Khan lake, poetic bamboo forests. Go Lao Waterfall is located at the foot of the mountain, close to the edge of Hoa Binh hydropower plant. The waterfall sounds like a symphony in the mountains and the forest.
