Mai Chau is well-known by spectacular mountainous beauty and succulent specialities in which Mai Ha rice wine is typical. This is a special wine made by skillful White Thai people. Mai Ha wine flavors spread in air and inspires to those who have ever tasted. It is very complicated to make delicious Mai Ha wine. Local people usually use yeast originated from local trees to cook wine. These leaves don’t exist in Mai Chau any longer so people must go further to Quan Hoa or Ba Thuoc, Thanh Hoa to look for.

The materials of Mai Ha wine including forest leaves, wild galanger, ginger, cu din, guava, grapefruit, wampee will be cleaned, dried and crushed before being mixed with rice flour and tapioca. Yeast to make Mai Ha shapes a soft dumpling. Making Mai Ha Wine is a traditional custom of White Thai people in Mai Chau. The excellent wine is used in special events such as: ancestor worship, Tet festival, guest welcome, etc.
