Mr. Nguyen Manh Hoa – Chairman of Emotion Vietnam Group, has worked in tourism industry for over ten years with a series of travel agencies, hotel investment and yacht companies in Vietnam.
(Mai Chau Ecolodge, an attractive destination for tourists)
On the occasion of the opening of Mai Chau Ecolodge luxurious Ecolodge. Tien Phong reporter had a conversation with him about this extremely special project with many natural and cultural factors.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hoa said: “There has been an increasing tourism demand in the world in general and Vietnam in particular. Located in Hoa Binh Province, Mai Chau is a destination known for a long time by both domestic and foreign tourists. For distances, Mai Chau is located about 140 km from Hanoi and it takes you only 3 hours and a half to get there by car; for landscapes, Mai Chau is actually a promised land that have not been exploited in accordance with its potential.
There are majestic mountains along with a rich culture of Thai, Mong, Muong ethnic groups. Almost tourists coming to Mai Chau currently stay in houses on stilts and live with the native people without appearing first-class resorts for rich tourists.”
Now, there have been many projects named “Ecology”, so what are differences of Mai Chau Ecolodge from others?
It’s essential for each enterprise to bring its own mission or demand that the general market owned and hidden demands that force investors to thoroughly research to create an equivalent product. The mission of Mai Chau Ecolodge is derived from its own Vietnamese name “Mai Chau Ecological Lodge”.
We have thoroughly researched the market and pointed out four fundamental criteria of an ecological resort: friendly with nature; the designed details and surrounding layouts must be local materials; rustic but sophisticated; environmental protection using solar energy, solar hot water, heating by biomass; to honour local culture, architecture, staff clothing or rich cultural cuisine; sustainable tourism; responsible tourism, along with people to build a sustainable tourism.
We have made a real plan to carry out, but not an oral plan to market. Tourists now are very sensitive, especially high-class tourists; and we desire to inspire tourists with the real ecotourism.
Mai Chau Ecolodge is a new product of tourism, so what things do you expect about its success?
“We have been researching to develop other projects in Vietnam. In the next time, we plan to build Hue Ecolodge located on the riverbank of Huong. The characteristics of our Ecolodge chain is to have the same mission and core values, but have absolutely different designs and activities in each place; and each ecological resort is associated with the local culture.”, according to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hoa.
Any successes also come from the heart first, not from ambition of profitable investment first. If working in ecological tourism industry, in particular, this Mai Chau Ecolodge resort but you only pay attention to profits or the number of years of capital reimbursement, it’s difficult to get profits or profits will not be high if any. This is a special product about the environment and culture. This product is all my heart and of those participating the project; it’s our brainchild; when the child grows up and succeeds in this society, its parents also get extremely proud of it.
Although the resort has operated for a short time, I believe in this new orientation. Humans come from the nature and always desire to immerse in the nature. Nowadays, with the increasingly rapid urbanization rate in developed and developing countries, people living in the urban area also have quite same lifestyles and desire to close to the nature and explore the original culture. The Western tourists eat much pumpkin but they have never known how pumpkins to grow up.
Mai Chau Ecolodge is built on the philosophy of the natural environment and culture, so we direct to customers with high education. There are no television, no littering, no speaking loudly, no smoking and it’s required to respect servers, local culture and surrounding people. We direct to foreign tourists mainly from Europe and Australia because of the characteristics of the market; they travel all year round, especially in autumn and winter. For the Vietnamese tourists, we direct to family tourism under small groups; almost from Hanoi and they only travel on weekends.
